
Beginning American Sign Language

Meets: Tuesday 1:30 - 2:30
Class Description: Beginning American Sign Language is a foreign language credit. Students will study the vocabulary, grammar and syntax of the language of the Deaf, as well as the Deaf Culture. Lessons will be presented through in-class participation, weekly homework, individual projects, games and formal assessments. These activities are to be entertaining while engaging the student’s minds.
The goals for this course are that students become familiar with ASL and gain an understanding of the Deaf World through engaging activities.
Prerequisites: None, except a willingness to learn.
Maximum number of students that you will allow to take this class: 10
Cost per student (numeric only): $45
Homework: Students will have weekly homework requiring a minimum of 1 hour. However, the depth of a student’s understanding of ASL will depend upon his/her level of commitment and the amount of time spent in study.
